Christie is in some fashion to excavations in philanthropy and reform leader Lewis allows Serocold peak on the need to rely on young offenders and betraying a chilling symbiosis with one of the criminals who should be in a cozy asylum in somewhere.
Miss Marple is the best of friends, two sisters aging. A sister, who thinks otherwise is in danger, Miss Marple has to pay a timely visit. Upon arrival found a large amount of garden variety of types and maladjusted school reform, along with their caregivers, sharing the property on his friend. All this makes for a really great plot, including the murder of the family by the Patriarch of Miss Marple, which is further exacerbated their already very sharp wit to solve the crime. This is one of the best They Do It with Mirrors film adaptations of television to preserve the fabric of the novel to the screen. The script and flow, has no obvious holes or gaps, the performance is grade A, and the location is superb. I recommend this DVD film They Do It with Mirrors as one of the best Miss Marple Movies TV ever!
The novel on which this was not an adaptation of the best works of Christie's to begin. However, the manner in which the (first) the murder was carried out in the book is brilliant. In this adaptation the exact details of the crime are on the left, the plan of the house appears briefly in the first part is not presented again to explain how the murderer came to the room of the victim, nor the sound of Alex heard steps running Restarick detail. Without such explanations, I fear that the casual viewer may have some questions at the end of the film. The film, however, has its saving grace - in the casting department. Faith Brook and Jean Simmons in particular shine in their respective roles of Ruth and Carrie van Rydock-Louise Serrocold. The two sisters' friendship with Jane Marple is best seen in the final sequence, instead of playing.
Unfortunately, this is not one of my favorites in the series of BBC Hickson. I think to do a little towards the end and this was one of the following conduct. It is not really one of the best books of Marple, in my view, this adaptation and sticks closely to the source material. The story was a departure earlier Helen Hayes as Miss Marple and the American one years old Bette Davies as her friend Carrie Louise. Both characters are enhanced in this version - in fact, Jean Simmons' image Carrie Louise was the climax of the film: They Do It with Mirrors for me. Joss Ackland made a pretty decent job as the frustrated Serrocold Lewis do good-but I'm not really a fan of this actor in general and the rest of the cast are so-so. The character of Ruth van Rydock is more to do in the book that works pretty well, but I missed the character of Miss Bellever (the excellent Frances de la Tour Hayes in the film). Spend a few pleasant hours, but there are better entries in this series.
This Agatha Christie novel has been adapted for the screen once before, in 1985, with Helen Hayes as Miss Marple: the DivX film They Do It with Mirrors is called "Murder with Mirrors", and is, in my opinion, better than later, this version: the mystery is better constructed, with the huge distraction of "poisoning" the accumulated from the start, and apart from a weak Carrie Louise (Bette Davis was obviously in poor health at the time), the previous version more attractive performances in most roles. For example, while both are quite nice Ginas in MWM her husband was a nice fellow and he wanted to "kiss up" in TDWM Todd Boyce is so bleak in the same paper, which I hope the poor girl will divorce va! Despite being about 15 minutes shorter, MWM do a better job of explaining the plot, while the resolution TDWM felt rushed. It really is a 5 / 10 movie, but it gave me an extra point for the final shot deeply sad - easily the best moments of the film.
Spoilers here. Dame Agatha turn and turn. She spends her energy to find the edge thin and spread confusion among tempt us in a game. It is one of the most trick participate in all the literature. But along comes the big boot TeeVee that (apparently) requires that people do not want to think, to throw overboard all the tracks and games. Bowen's other adaptations generally plod along and surprise us all in the end. We are not detectives, but the confusion among people in the room to which the explanations are late. But this is the worst. Christie often gives clues indirectly through the establishment of a theme here is the illusion, the illusion of magic, theater, cinema, ballet. He keeps all of this, but blunt. That keeps some of the events of distraction, but not ripen any of them: 'What is the student to sneak out? Why the brothers seriously pursue a married woman? Hickson Marples of all, this is the greatest distance between the coherence of the book and the inconsistency of adaptation. Ted's Evaluation - 1 of 3: You can find something better to do with this part of his life.
